The Coaching Debut Of Niall Horan And Chance The Rapper On The Season 23 Premiere Of 'the Voice': How Did They Fare?

On Monday, March 6, The Voice made its official return for its 23rd season. This season, the show welcomed two new coaches, Niall Horan, a former member of One Direction, and Chance the Rapper.

Blake Shelton, a longtime veteran of The Voice, and returning coach Kelly Clarkson were joined by the new coaches Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper. In the premiere's opening moments, Blake welcomed the newcomers at the studio, where he gave them a tour of the place and joked that it was his home. 

The new coaches' unique approaches to the competition certainly made a splash, and they quickly got up to speed with the show.

As expected, Blake Shelton didn't hold back in giving the new coaches a hard time in the new season of The Voice. During the Blind Auditions, he used his temporary future with the series to try and persuade singers to join his team, which prompted Niall and Chance to step up their game in recruiting potential singers for their own teams.

Despite Blake's tough competition, Niall Horan stepped up and became a direct competitor, going all out to convince singers to choose him as their coach instead of the resident country star. 

While Niall was focused on building his team, Chance the Rapper took a more laid-back approach during the Blind Auditions, connecting with the talent in a more relaxed manner compared to his fellow newcomer. As a result, he managed to secure some promising recruits for his team.
